About this tool
A PDF's title is what a reader shows in its window and what many document systems file it under — which is why so many documents are catalogued as "Microsoft Word - final draft 3". Setting the properties deliberately fixes that. Only the metadata changes; text, images, and page order are left exactly as they were.

Questions
- Do my files get uploaded to a server?
- No. This tool runs entirely inside your browser tab. Your file is read into memory, changed on your own machine, and handed straight back to you as a download. Nothing is transmitted, so there is nothing on our side to store or delete.
- What happens to a field I leave blank?
- It is cleared. What you type is what the file ends up saying, so emptying the author box is how you remove an author. To wipe everything including the timestamps, use Remove PDF metadata instead.
- Does this change the creation date?
- No. The dates are left as they were. The embedded XMP block is removed, though, because readers prefer XMP where both exist and a stale packet would show your old title next to the new one.
- Does it work without an internet connection?
- Once the page has loaded, yes. The processing code runs locally, so you can disconnect and the tool will still work. That is also a simple way to verify the privacy claim for yourself.
